Privacy Policy

How Inscend collects, uses, stores, and protects your information, and the control you keep over it.

Last updated October 2026

1. Introduction

Inscend is built to help small business owners make better daily decisions using their business data.

We take privacy seriously and design our systems to collect only what is necessary to deliver clear, actionable insights.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use Inscend.

By using Inscend, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information only to provide and improve our services.

a. Account Information

When you create an account, we may collect:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Business name
  • Country and region
  • Login credentials

b. Business Data

Depending on how you use Inscend, we may collect:

  • Sales data
  • Product and inventory data
  • Customer data (such as purchase history or contact details)
  • Uploaded files (CSV, spreadsheets, receipts via OCR)
  • Data synced from third-party platforms such as Shopify, Meta, e.t.c

Inscend does not sell or share your business data with third parties for advertising.

c. Usage Data

We collect limited usage data to improve the product, such as:

  • Feature usage
  • App interactions
  • Error logs
  • Device and browser type

d. Page View Analytics

We measure visits to Inscend with our own analytics, run on our own servers. No third-party analytics service receives this data. When you view a page in the app, we record:

  • The page viewed, without its query string, and with record identifiers removed
  • An anonymous visitor ID: a random identifier your browser creates and keeps in its local storage, so one browser is counted once across days. It is not linked to your account, name or email.
  • Whether the view starts a new visit (a visit ends after 30 minutes without a page view)
  • Your country, derived from your IP address at the time of the request
  • Device type (desktop, mobile or tablet), browser and operating system
  • Whether you were signed in (yes or no only, not which account)
  • For the first page of a visit: the referring website's domain, the kind of source (direct, search, social, referral or campaign), and any utm_source or ref campaign tag in the link

We do not store your IP address or anything else that identifies you personally. Your IP address is used only to look up your country and is then discarded. Automated bots are not counted, and refreshing the same page more than once in a day is counted once. Admin pages are not tracked.

You can reset your anonymous visitor ID at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser.

Country lookup uses IP2Location LITE data available from https://lite.ip2location.com.

e. Advertising Measurement (Google Ads)

We use Google Ads to learn which of our ads bring people who go on to subscribe. This happens only if you agree on the cookie banner, and only on our public pages (the home page and these legal pages) and on the page that confirms a new subscription. It never happens inside the Inscend app, and nothing about your store, its products, customers or orders is sent.

If you agree, Google sets cookies on inscend.io (named _gcl_au and, when you arrived from one of our ads, _gcl_aw) that last up to 90 days, and receives the address of the page you are on, the ad click identifier Google added to the link, your browser and device type, and your IP address. When you subscribe, Google is told that a subscription happened on that page, not who you are or which plan. We have turned off ad personalisation: this information is not used to build advertising audiences.

If you decline, Google's tag is not loaded at all. You can change your choice at any time with "Cookie choices" at the bottom of the home page, which also removes these cookies, or by clearing this site's data in your browser. Google's own use of this information is covered by Google's Privacy Policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide decision recommendations and insights
  • Generate Action Cards and business guidance
  • Improve product performance and reliability
  • Communicate important updates and support messages
  • Ensure security and prevent misuse

We do not use your data to train public AI models or share it with other businesses.

4. AI and Automated Decision Support

Inscend uses AI and machine learning to:

  • Analyze patterns in your business data
  • Generate recommendations and predictions
  • Estimate financial impact of actions

All AI outputs are assistive, not mandatory.

You remain in control of all decisions taken in your business.

5. Data Sources and Integrations

You may connect Inscend to third-party services such as Shopify.

When connected:

  • We access only the data you authorize
  • We follow the permissions granted by the platform
  • You can disconnect integrations at any time

Inscend is read-only by default. It retrieves and analyzes data from connected platforms to generate insights, recommendations, and suggested actions. Inscend does not make changes to a connected third-party platform unless a write-enabled feature has been explicitly enabled and the required user authorization or confirmation has been provided. Where supported, Inscend may prepare actions, drafts, or configurations for you to review before they are carried out.

Google user data (Gmail, Google Ads)

If you connect a Google account, Inscend asks only for what that tool needs, and uses what Google gives it only to provide that feature to you:

  • Gmail (send only): sends a supplier order from your own address after you approve that exact email. Inscend does not read, list or delete your mail.
  • Google Ads: reads your campaigns' spend, budgets and results, and the search terms, keywords and ad groups that triggered your ads. Inscend changes a campaign's daily budget, moves daily budget between two of your campaigns, or pauses or switches on a campaign only after the store's owner approves that exact change, and never above the daily spending limit the owner sets. Inscend never creates or edits ads, keywords, targeting or bids.

For Google Ads changes, Inscend keeps the daily spending limit the owner sets (the amount, its currency, who set it and when) and a record of each change: the campaign and budget it touched, the values before and after, who approved it, Google's answer and what Google Ads reported afterwards. The record holds no customer data and is deleted with your business.

Inscend's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Google user data is never sold, never used for advertising, never used to train AI models, and never shared except as needed to provide the feature you use. Inscend staff do not read it unless you ask us to for support, it is needed for security, or the law requires it. Disconnecting the tool in Settings, or removing Inscend's access in your Google Account, stops all access.

Meta advertising data (Facebook and Instagram ads)

If you connect a Meta ad account, Inscend reads that account's campaigns, ad sets and ads and what Meta reports for them (spend, impressions, reach, frequency, clicks, purchases and their value), and each campaign's own daily budget and start date, to show how your ad spend is doing. Inscend changes a campaign's or ad set's daily budget, moves daily budget between two of them, or pauses or switches on a campaign, ad set or ad only after the store's owner approves that exact change, and never above the daily spending limit the owner sets. Inscend never posts or messages as you, and never creates, deletes or edits ads, creative, audiences, targeting, bids or lifetime budgets. The access Meta grants is held by the service Inscend uses to connect to Meta, not in Inscend's own database. Meta data is never sold, never used to advertise to anyone, and never combined across businesses. To make those changes Inscend asks Meta for permission to manage your ads (ads_management) as well as to read them, only when the owner chooses to let Inscend make changes. With it, Meta also asks for permission to read your Facebook Page (pages_read_engagement): Inscend uses that only to read the name of the Page your ads run from, and shows it beside a change before you approve it. Meta asks for that together with permission to list the Pages you manage (pages_show_list), so you choose on Meta's screen which Pages Inscend may read; Inscend keeps no list of your Pages. You grant these, or not, on Meta's own screen, and you can remove them in your Facebook settings at any time; Inscend then only reads.

Inscend also reads where each ad sends people (the web addresses in the ad, as Meta reports them, at most ten per ad) and, where you have allowed it, the name of the Facebook Page the ad runs from. It uses these only to match an ad to the store product it sells, for example to suggest pausing an ad for a product that has sold out, and to show you which Page a change affects. Inscend does not read an ad's images, video or text, or anything about the people who saw or clicked it.

If the owner sets a daily spending limit for Meta Ads, Inscend stores it (amount, currency, who set it and when), and keeps a record of each change: the campaign, ad set or ad, the values before and after, who approved it, Meta's answer without its trace ids, and what Meta reported afterwards. No customer data is in it. It is erased with the business.
